Yeovil has a very rich and interesting history. In its early days, it was a trade route from London into the South West, and it once boasted five railway stations.
Today, only two remain; Pen Mill and Yeovil Junction, but the was also Yeovil Town, Hendford, and Hendford Halt. Read more about the history of the lost way in Yeovil and the surrounding areas.

Technically, the start of the Yeovil to Durston branch line was Hendford, which was the first station in Yeovil. However, in later years, the company extended the line to Pen Mill, as the station also served the line to Weymouth. I won’t go into great detail about the station’s history
