The history of the railways in Yeovil is fascinating. A town which once had five station, now only has two left; Pen Mill and Junction. It’s sad that the others have gone, but we haven’t forgotten them.
Hopefully you’ve been enjoying my blog, which has just started the line from Yeovil to Taunton. I will be working on all the stations on the line and then put together a full video about the entire journey.
I was contacted by Yeovil Country Park last week, about an upcoming event that is taking place in Nine Springs. I’m still in discussion about the details, but it’s an event for those who remember the railway in Yeovil, or would like to learn more about it. I have also agreed to give a talk about the railways and to show some of the videos and photos I’ve collected.
I’ve not done a talk in a while, but I do enjoy them, and try to make them as fun as possible. It will be nice to meet people in person and answer any questions you might have.
You can find more details about the event HERE. It takes place on Wed 26th Aug at 7:00pm. Someone told me there is free parking after 6pm. Although the café is closed, they will still serve teas and coffees. I will pass on more details as I get them.
Update on my YouTube videos
I also wanted to update everyone about changes to my YouTube videos. Don’t worry, I’m still happily making them, but they may not be online every Monday from now on.
Making the videos is a real joy for me; doing all the research, editing the photos and video, creating the scripts. However, I’m just not getting the time to upload one every Monday. This has meant putting some pressure on myself, which means I rush things, and then the quality suffers. In future, I will put videos up, when they are good and ready, but a bit more infrequently.
I will be putting them up a day or too early for members of the YouTube Channel and on my Patreon. Also, I will be putting more images, ones that are not on the blog or in the videos, again, for members only.
If you would like early access, you can join, if not, the videos will be up for free in time, for everyone to enjoy.
