Up Next – Plymouth to Launceston via Tavistock South

Hello to everyone and my news subscribers. I have the next series of blogs due, this time it will be covering the stations on the Plymouth to Launceston, going from Devon into Cornwall and back.

I have been offline for a little while, as I went and broke my arm. It wasn’t a simple break, I managed to fracture the bone in my elbow, and it now has a metal plate in it.

The worse part about it was that I couldn’t type anything out. I did try dictation, but that’s harder than it looks. I’m now in a place where I can get back to writing and crack on with the blog.

The line from Plymouth to Launceston was a popular route, but another that suffered under the axe Dr Beaching. I have covered the branch line in a video on my YouTube channel.

A good friend of dad’s, Reg Blackett, who’s now sadly passed away, was a keen amateur cinematographer. He filmed the last days of the line on 16mm, which dad and I transferred back in 1996.

I am currently working on an update for Plymouth to Launceston, including new images, new modern footage, and I plan to take up the drone for some new aerial footage.

Updates to Videos

One other thing I plan on doing is moving my new video slot to Sunday evenings, instead of Monday mornings. At the moment, I have a series of VHS videos, which I’m uploading. There are a wide range of subjects, but hopefully interesting to everyone if you love railways.

I need to get back to is making my own videos. I’m planning on turning the blog posts into shorter videos, focusing on each of the stations. In the past, with dad, we made videos about the entire line, but I think each of the stations deserve a bit of appreciation.

Thank you again for subscribing and there will be a new blog post soon of the Plymouth to Launceston line.
