Home Movies to Digital Video

I had a nice phone call this week from a lady about putting some home movies on to digital video for her. It turns out, over 20 years ago, she had some films transferred, but to video, which was popular at the time.

It’s been such a long time, but here is what the videos I used to produce look like.

I’m glad the sticker has stayed on, that’s impressive.

The videos contain other reels the lady had done, but there was also some new reels to transfer. It’s mostly Standard (or Regular) 8mm from around the late 1960s to early 1970s. I’ve had a look through some of the first few feet of the reels and the quality looks very good.

I launched Aarchive Films with my dad in 1992, initially naming it Movieland International. We renamed it when we began transferring home movies to video for clients. That feels like forever ago! I’m thrilled to still convert home movies to digital for people.

I always remember they are precious memories to someone, so I do the best I can to make sure those memories are preserved for the future.

I know this isn’t my usual post, but it was putting home movies on to video that started all the interest in the railways. There are plenty more blog posts to come so make sure you stay subscribed to the mailing list.
